Ten minutes a day adds up to more than an hour a week, and short sessions are easier to keep than long ones. The trick is to make the habit small enough that it happens on busy days too.
A simple routine
- Pick the same time each day, such as straight after school.
- Learn a few new words and say each one in a sentence.
- Spend the last two minutes reviewing yesterday's words.
A small habit that happens every day beats a big one that happens now and then.
If a day is missed, skip it rather than doubling up. Keeping the routine going matters more than catching every minute.
Try it with your child
Put a sticky note with today's words on the fridge. Use one of them in conversation before bedtime.
